A wish….Can we do it?
My whole life when people have asked what I want to do with my life. Or if people asked me if I had one wish what would it be, I always had one response and I’m sure it was looked down upon as a “normal” answer or whatnot but I always would say, “Is changing the world to much to ask for?”
I have always been more mature than my age would represent, (in 6 days I turn 23-Yeah I know, a shameless plug) however I really meant it. Year by year as I have grown older I have noticed a change in society, a change in the world, tragedy after tragedy, murder after murder, genocide after genocide, and I always wished without wishes that I could do something to make a difference in the world. I always knew that the world was without something, and while I was wishing this wish, I, myself, was without what the world needs to make a change. Jesus Christ. Though I always have and always will wish the wish for change, I always used to think “But i’m just one person…” and ask my self, “How can one person change the world?” Well the answer is, only one person can change the world! Jesus Christ is the answer, and we as followers of him have been called to be Jesus to the people and if we can do that I feel more so than I ever have in my life that the trickle effect is that the world will be turned upside down for Jesus.
September 24th, 2006, as I walked into the doors of Newspring Church, I had no idea that I would walk out of the same door a brand new human being. That was the day that I quit walking away from what, through my whole life, was very clear to me, what was right in front of me, and that was for me to accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. September 24th, goes down as the single greatest day of my life. (A very close 2nd would be August 14th, when I met my beautiful future bride, Josie Murphy!) Soon thereafter I joined the church, and then soon thereafter I wanted to get plugged in to the volunteer Ministry so I became a greeter. First guy I met on the greet team was Dan White, a man in love with Jesus and a man in love with seeing people meet the man. (Now, as fate would have it, Dan is going to be a groomsman in my wedding! Thank you Dan for being constantly committed to having a hand in fixing or consoling a day, in hopes that people meet Jesus) So there I am, unbeknownst to me at the time, having a hand in what I know is changing the world. We no longer have to wait, though we have a ways to go, because a change is being made and Jesus is bringing up Church’s all around America to do so. (Elevation and Newspring church, are church’s I thank God for on a daily basis) Like them, love them, or hate them, but the simple fact is that Newspring hears from the word of God and when they hear they move and people are meeting Jesus. This year alone at Newspring Church nearly, if not more than, one-thousand people have met Jesus Christ. (My fiance Josie, being one of them) We have had massive tailgating baptisms, baptizing over 500 people. (My fiance Josie, being one of them) And though people try there hardest to bring Newspring down, people just keep on coming to see what is going on. I am blown away week in and week out at how Newspring puts together the gospel. Folks for whatever reason (I think it was to prove to the world that he is God) Jesus decided to put Newspring in small town of Anderson, South Carolina, and begin a revolution of change! I am happy, beyond belief, that we have a sovereign and merciful God who never gave up on me, and that I have a hand in the world being changed. My wish is coming true. I am Coach.
Hola Blog World.
I’ve always loved writing and occasionally blog on my myspace page but have never liked the format, so here ye here ye, I decided to quit procrastinating and launch a blog. Maybe you will enjoy it, maybe you won’t, but at least it will be therapeutic. Hither we go…
Are you wondering what you can expect from my blog? Probably not, but just in case that question sparked an interest (or even if it didn’t) I’ll let you know anyways. Frankly, (and I have always loved that word frankly because it has the name Frank in it, and the name Frank just makes me laugh) now where was I? Oh yeah Frankly…You can expect the unexpected. You see I’m to some extent ,slightly, majorly A.D.D and I will be poised to write about whatever sparks an interest in me in that split of a second. My posts should range in, but not be limited to, (did that sound professional?) Sports, Religion, Politics, my life, my beautiful future wife, randomness, and so on and so forth. So my hopes are that you make my blog a daily ritual like brushing your teeth, taking a bath, or since we’re in the south hopefully like you umm….waking up in the morning…or opening up a beer can. Before you leave, check the underneath…I have linked to some enjoyable blog-reads today. See you tomorrow. Enjoyeth my blogeth. I am coach.
Perry Noble, Pastor of Newspring, had this enlightening post today.
My friend, Adam Burgess, posted this that I think every couple person should read.
Jake Beaty, Outreach Pastor of Newspring Church, had a great post on the subject of temptation.
And..In case you want to keep up with God’s favorite team, you can go here.
